Two shutout wins for St. Peter Saints in hockey

The St. Peter Saints swept a pair of games against the Lindsay Collegiate Spartans 9-0 and 7-0 in Kawartha high school boys hockey action on Friday. Ryan Baily posted the shutout while Clay Coles led the way with a hat trick in game one. Jackson Weichel, Ryan Shaughness­y and Will Hickey had a goal and assist while Charlie Cowie, Matt VanderVeld­en and Jordan Vivian also scored. Pat Goan and Logan Hotrum had two assists. In game two, Trevor Lawrence had the shutout with Hickey getting two goals and an assist. Goan and Coles scored twice and Ethan Young had a goal and three assists. Connor Guest had three assists and Joe Doyle two. On Thursday, the Haliburton Highlands Redhawks beat Thomas A. Stewart Griffins 7-4 and Cobourg Collegiate Wolves 6-0. Against TASSS, Owen Smith had two goals and two assists, Owen Gilbert a goal and two assists with other goals by Jacob Haedicke, Josh Boice, Owen Patterson-Smith, who had three assists, and Chase Burden. Drew Goble led TASSS with a goal and assist while Jordan Brown, Caden Todd and Robin French also scored. Against Cobourg, Boice scored twice for Halliburto­n while Chris Thompson, Nolan Flood and Carter O’Neill had a goal and assist each. Jacob Bishop also scored. Carson Sisson posted the shutout. The Adam Scott Lions beat TASSS 3-2. Rhys Sands had a goal and two assists and Will MacGillvra­y two goals for the Lions. Holden Parker had two assists. Todd and Carter Scott had a goal and assist for the Griffins. Adam Scott also beat Cobourg 2-0. Scoring details were unavailabl­e.
