Half Pints knock off Fighting Irish in battle for first place

Heading into the home stretch of the Niagara Five Pin Mixed Pro League season, teams are positionin­g themselves for their last kick at the can to claim the final segment title.

This week, the Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints took a step in the right direction by knocking off the league-leading Fiddler’s Pourhouse Fighting Irish, 2-1, and moving into first place with a month to go.

Brad Gaudreau took the reins for the Half Pints as he connected for a fantastic 833 (292, 286, 255), while Tyler Wendel wasn’t far behind, continuing the torrid pace he’s been on lately with a solid 802 (277, 267, 258).

Lindsay Richardson added 727 (277, 224, 226) to the mix while Nathan Marr-Schoenfeld­t rounded out the scoring with 684 (296, 202).

The Fighting Irish replied with Payton Peters’ solid 755 (285, 290). Shawn Pellizari followed closely with 746 (232, 225, 289) and Chris Lyttle carded 681 (229, 235).

Kile Robins had the honour of posting the best series of the night, a lane-scorching 839 (364, 221, 254) to spark Dr. Allison Zaruk’s Main Street Chiropract­ic to a 3-0 victory over D. Fisher’s Legacy.

Brian McFarlane supported Robins with 724 (226, 318), while Vicky Robins finished things off with a 651 (226, 215).

Legacy returned fire with Rob Fisher’s 663 (209, 265) and Mark Belanger’s 646 (281).

Big Red’s Meatballs took two of three from DJB Bean Counters as Jordan Gravelle led the way for the winners with a steady 715 (290, 235).

His uncle, Chris Gravelle, helped him along with a nice 694 (251, 271), while Brad Maurice added 670 (249, 216).

The Bean Counters answered with Paul Asselin’s 691 (226, 245) and Josh Robins’ 673 (230, 243).

Bugsy’s Seagulls edged the Upper Deck Strikers, 2-1, as Laura Barton stayed hot for them, leading the way with 736 (298, 238, 200). She was helped along by Kayla Ferguson’s 662 (237, 217).

Upper Deck put up some great numbers, led by Joe Thomas’s 748 (280, 283), Ryan Kulikowski’s 723 (206, 241, 276) and Mike Owen’s 648 (205, 240).

In the nightcap, the Accelerate­d Health & Wellness Aces had a dominant night on the boards, shutting out BCAPMALL Production­s, 3-0. Duke Brooks paced the winners with a strong 779 (221, 256, 302), while getting help from Duran Size’s 702 (266, 216, 220) and Bill Stockill’s 634 (252, 214).

Leading BCAPMALL in scoring was Chris Disher, with 728 (314, 210, 204), and Dave Pendlebury, with 665 (211, 252).
