Seneca Casino to undergo $40 million in renovations
Work will begin shortly on a $40 million beautification and renovation project at the Seneca Niagara Casino.
Plans revealed at a Friday media conference call for dramatic changes to the Niagara Falls, NY casino’s east side appearance, including a landscaped boulevard entering the property, a new glass façade, and a completely re-imagined hotel lobby.
There will also be enhanced views of the casino area, and new registration area for hotel guests.
Seneca Gaming Corp. chairman Barry E. Snyder, Sr. says the renovations — being dubbed the Seneca Arrival Experience — will create a “tangible sense of excitement and anticipation” for guests as they approach the venue.
“That feeling will cascade throughout the entire property, from the new lobby through the hotel tower and spa, throughout the restaurants and across the gaming floor.”
Exterior work is expected to be complete by winter, with the new guest registration area expected to be ready in November. The entire project is scheduled to be finished by fall, 2019.
It’s the casino’s largest renovation project since a $26 million revamp of the gaming floor in 2013.
Seneca Gaming Corp. president & CEO Holly Gagnon says the “energy and atmosphere” at the casino will change instantly.
With this upgrade, the Seneca Nation has invested more than $600 million U.S. into the proper- ty since transforming the former convention centre into a casino in 2002. In addition to the largest hotel in Western New York with 604 rooms, it has 147,000-squarefeet of gaming space, 3,000 slot machines and 10 restaurants.
The renovations are expected to be completed with minimal disruption to casino operations.
The announcement follows a recent $7 million upgrade to the 21-year-old Casino Niagara. Near the Fallsview Casino site, work is underway on a $130 million, 5,000-seat theatre. It’s expected to open in mid-2019.
Management with Fallsview Casino and Casino Niagara declined comment on the Seneca project.
