Renovation work continues at Glen Haven
SPECIAL TO THE NEWS
Upgrades to plumbing maintenance move closer to completion at Glen Haven Manor in New Glasgow.
Phase 1 of the project was completed July 31 and Phase 2 is now almost wrapped up. The third and final phase entails finishing tub room enhancements for increased accessibility, along with completion of flooring on the bottom level.
“These renovations will enhance our residents’ bath experience and the maintenance work required presented the opportunity to implement these improvements,” said CEO Lisa M. Smith. “We are always looking for ways to improve facility amenities that support our commitment to best practices and innovation for long-term care as we provide exceptional individualized quality care for our residents.”

Water has been backed up and running for a couple of weeks and all residents continue to have full access to personal care amenities. In the final stage of Phase 2, the tub rooms improvements will feature new walk-in, fully accessible showers, new tiles and new paint that will be added to the accessible sinks, toilets and large tubs. It’s anticipated these components of the project will be completed by late September, pending shipment of project materials.
Phase 3, involving renovations of the bottom floor hallways, is being worked on but will require an extended timeline as the cement foundation must also be cured for a month before new flooring can be placed.
Recreational programming, activities and events continue to be offered in alternate locations throughout the facility as well as in the Amirah Garden and new patio area at the front. Visitors are asked to continue to use the front entrance. Parking remains available at the back and to the side of the facility in the usual parking area for visitors, indicated by signage.
