Park, Athol Sutherland, 79 of Park Falls Road, Pictou County passed away April 7, 2017 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Hugh Everett and Irma Matilda (Sutherland) Park.

Athol was a life long resident of Park Falls. He worked all of his working years with his brother at the family business, Hugh E. Park and Son’s Lumbermill.

He was president of the MacPherson’s Mills Cemetery for many years. He enjoyed working in his shed doing woodwork which was enjoyed by many in the community. As well, he enjoyed reading and nature.

He is survived by his wife Marguerite “Margie”, Park Falls; a daughter Donna (Roy) Wager, Lower Sackville; grandchild­ren: Zachary and Kristy; step-children: Kathy (Dan) Alhquist, Lacombe, Alberta; Kevin (Annette), Grandique, N.B.; stepgrandc­hildren: Taylor, Alex, Celidh and Aleah, a brother Alex (Shirley) Park, Park Falls; a sister Joye Kozak, Red Deer; many nieces and nephews.

He was predecease­d by his first wife Audrey (Chisholm) Park and a brother-in-law Richard Kozak.

His remains will rest at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow for visiting from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Union Presbyteri­an Church, Thorburn with Rev. Jeff Lackie presiding. Burial will take place in the MacPherson’s Mills Cemetery.

A reception will take place at the Church hall following the burial.

Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Athol may be made to the MacPherson’s Mills Cemetery.
