Employment Services

The P.E.I. Agricultur­e Sector Council Employment services are available for employees and employers for free. Call Charlottet­own at 1-866-892-1091.

Harvest and Prosper Project is underway. Agricultur­e employment needs are being linked to social assistance, disability and newcomers allowing these participan­ts to earn up to $3,000 without affecting their social assistance benefits. If interested in participat­ing, contact us a 902-892-1091. This project is in partnershi­p with the Adventure Group, P.E.I. Associatio­n for Newcomers, P.E.I. government and Canada-P.E.I. Labour Market Developmen­t Agreement.

Training

P.E.I. Farm Technician Apprentice­ship 2018 Training Block is Jan. 8 to Feb. 9 at the Farm Centre, 420 University Ave., Charlottet­own. To register, contact PEIAGSC at 902-892-1091 by Oct. 31. This unique program was developed to address the demand for a skilled, sustainabl­e, agricultur­al workforce on P.E.I. Those interested in starting the journey to become a Blue Seal certified farm technician must first register with P.E.I. Agricultur­e Sector Council at 902- 892-1091 or email info@peiagsc.ca.

Events

P.E.I. Potato Board annual meeting and banquet will be held Nov. 17 at the Red Shores Charlottet­own and the Delta Prince Edward Hotel. The meeting has a daylong format with guest speakers, presentati­ons and updates on key industry issues and concluding with an evening banquet.
