GRANT, Basil Emmett

It is with great sadness, the family announce the passing of Basil Emmett Grant of Fredericton, NB, husband of Mardith (McKay) Grant occurred on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 9, 1947 in Peakes Station, PEI he was the son of the late Ralph and Sadie (Bambrick) Grant. Basil was a great story teller and enjoyed hunting, planting trees and being outside. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife, Basil is survived by his daughters, Mary-Anne Ross (William) of Lloydminster, AB, Janet Spinney (Adam) of Sussex, NB, Susie Randall (Mike) of Bedeque, PE and Christine Handrahan (Michael) of Peakes, PE; grandchildren, Lindsay, Kirsten, Averie, Briar, Alec, Michael “Mick” and Emma Kate; siblings, Ernie Grant (Ginny), Pearl (Wilfred MacIntyre), Tommy Grant (Annette), Raymond Grant (Coleen), Merlin Grant and Mabel Grant; many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his son, James Ralph Murray Grant; sister, Patricia “Pat” Grant; brother, Kenneth “Kenny” Grant. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Fatima on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Michael McGowan as celebrant. Interment will take place in Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
