Charlottetown Police Services are still trying to track down a man who came to the aid of a woman who was attacked late Monday on the Confederation Trail.

Deputy Police Chief Richard Collins said Wednesday they still have not found the one and only person who may be able to describe the attacker.

“We haven’t been able to determine who he is,’’ Collins said. “He hasn’t contacted us ( and) that’s unfortunate because I think he may have been able to give us a better description or any description of the ( attacker) because she ( the victim) couldn’t describe him at all. That’s unfortunate.’’

Late Monday, a lone female running on the trail was pushed from behind and knocked to the ground. Police say a man who was running on the trail at approximately the same time interceded and the attacker fled.

“It seems like ( the attacker) came at her side on. She feels he may have come out of some bushes or shrubs and kind of hit her side on and knocked her down. He may have tried to get her iPhone or iPod off her and, thankfully, the other jogger came and pulled him off and he fled. Realistically, the other jogger would be able to give a better description of him because she was blindsided.’’

The incident occurred around 5: 30 p. m. on Monday. The only information police have of the good Samaritan is that his name is Scott, that he’s in his 50s and that he’s from Stratford.

“We just can’t locate him at this point in time. Two hours transpired from the time that it happened until we got the report.’’

Collins is asking the Stratford man to contact police as soon as possible at 629- 4172 or Crime Stoppers at 1- 800- 222- 8477.

“If that individual can contact the police we would really appreciate it.’’
