Waiting on a Woman storms to victory in record- tying time
Macphee drives six horses to wins
Waiting on a Woman scored his third victory in a row Sunday afternoon at Red Shores Summerside.
The current track record holder tripped the timer in 2: 00.1 but with the track rated off with a one second variant, the mile equalled his track- record performance of 1: 59.1 on July 12, 2011.
Brodie MacPhee was in the bike for the win for trainer Mitch Tierney and his co- owner David Tierney of Cornwall. The trotter remains undefeated since relocating back to the Island from Ontario. Caliban Hanover ( Ron Gass) was second with Saulsbrook Balance third for Willie Murphy.
MacPhee had a career day at the Prince County oval with three winners in the books by Race 6, which included a strong performance from Im Dreamin in 1: 58.3 for owners Darla MacEachern and Jason Sherry of Kensington.
He ended his career day with his sixth winner aboard veteran Porthill Alf for owner Marvyn Webster of Kensington.
Track announcer Vance Cameron concluded MacPhee is the youngest driver ever to record six wins on one day at the Summerside track.
General Luckypercy and driver Gilles Barrieau captured the $ 13,600 Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Final Saturday in Charlottetown. The time of the mile was 1: 55.2.
Barrieau sent the mare to the front from Post 2 and carved out fractions of 27.3, 57.1 and 1: 26.1 before closing in 29.1 seconds to seal the victory. Private Joke finished second with Dreaming completing the triactor, which paid $ 57.10.
The card also featured two divisions of the Maritime breeders eliminations for three- year- old trotters. Majian Dillion, in line to James Ripley, won the first elimination in 2: 03.2 while Sweetwater Rukkus and Jack Panting took the second division in gate- to- wire fashion in 2: 05.3.
Marc Campbell notched another driving triple on the program. Brian MacPhee had a driving double.
