MACDONALD, Donald William "Bill"

-

1954 - 2021. It is with heavy hearts we announce that Bill Macdonald age 66, passed away on January 9, 2021 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on March 11, 1954 in Halifax, Bill was a son of the late Ronald Charles and Rose ( Mcdonald) Macdonald. Bill grew up in Cloverville, until the age of 10 when he moved to Antigonish. He later moved to Toronto in the early 1970’s, returning to Nova Scotia in the mid 1980’s. His heart was always in Cloverville, but he had many friends in Antigonish and was known to often walk long distances to visit them. Bill worked on numerous jobs with Jimmy Day and loved spending time with Jimmy and Diane Briand and was like an uncle to their children, especially Elana. Barry Macinnis expressed that he and his father the late Phillip Macinnis (the "Judge") had lots of good times together with Bill. He loved country music and cowboy hats. He also had a lifelong love of dogs and was very fond of little Oscar. Bill moved to Greenwood to live with his twin Marian and family where he spent the last six months of his life surrounded by family and their two dogs Gibson and Hector, who kept a close eye on Bill for food morsels as often as possible. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his twin sister, A. Marian Elsworth (Richard "Woody"), Greenwood; sister, Margaret Rose "Peggy" Macdonald, Dartmouth; his niece, Merinda Lobato (Eliggio) and great-nephew, Eli Lobato, Colorado Springs, Colo.; niece, Nicole Elsworth, Greenwood and nephew, Shawn Elsworth, Edmonton, Alta.; cousins, Donna Arnold (Bill), Denise and Darryl Gaines. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Alexander Macdonald; our guardians, Aunt Marge and Uncle Edwin Macneil (Antigonish); and cousin, Donnie Macneil, (Cloverville). Cremation has taken place and his ashes will lovingly be taken "home" to Cloverville, in July 2021. Donations in his memory may be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
