FRANKLIN, Sydney Lewis
October 1, 1936 – March 12, 2024. Sydney was born and raised in Montreal. He spent his early career working in Montreal, Nova Scotia and Ottawa. He so enjoyed his time in Nova Scotia that he moved back to complete his career and to retire. Sydney had a wide circle of friends including his coffee group and gym group. He was known for his love of engaging conversations and would lead discussions on various subjects always sharing his knowledge and insights generously. All his friends were like family to him, and he treated them with kindness and unwavering concern. Music was special to Sydney and he expressed his passion by performing with the Dartmouth Seniors’ Choir and participating in musical theater productions which brought him immense joy. He also had an eye for art and enjoyed hunting in antique stores looking for art and unique items of special interest to him. Sydney passed away peacefully in Parklands by the Lake seniors’ home in Dartmouth. He will be sadly missed by his family; sisters, Connie Kenney, Beverley Gregor-pearse; brother, Warren Franklin; sister-inlaw, Norah Franklin; daughter, Krista Fraleigh (Franklin); and his many friends and nephews. His absence will also be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, wisdom, and zest for life leave behind a legacy that will be remembered by many.
