Kids can sink their jaws into shark-themed Virtual Art Camp

-

Kids can take a fun bite out of summer with a Shark Weekthemed Virtual Art Camp.

Presented by the Alderney Landing Community Cultural Centre, the camp runs each week through the month of July, hosted by local artist Genny Killin.

Each session has five days of virtual art project tutorials, an interactive meet-up with instructor and classmates and art supplies kits that can be purchased and picked up at Alderney Landing.

The shark-themed program is a follow-up to the first virtual camps the centre presented in early June as an online program created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We were thrilled with the response to our initial virtual camp,” says Alderney Landing fine arts program co-ordinator Lee Cripps in an announcement for the new program. “We had children sign up from across Nova Scotia and down into the United States as well.

“That's one of the wonderful things about these camps, you can do them anywhere. At home, at the cottage or even if you don't live in the province.”

With the annual tradition of summer camp a doubtful prospect at best this summer, Cripps says Alderney Landing will continue with the virtual camp format through the summer for parents looking for fun and innovative ideas to help their kids stay creative in a safe environment.

The cost of the program is $50, plus $25 for each art supplies kit. For more information or to register, visit www.alderneylanding.com/sharkweek.
