14U Sundogs win bronze at Provincial­s

The 14U Junior SunDogs are provincial medalists after placing third out of 33 teams at the 2013 Provincial Volleyball Championsh­ip in Saskatoon.

They placed second in the round robin with wins over the Regina QCVC Fury (25-9, 25-14) and the Prince Albert Smashing Bananas (25-15, 25-14) and a three-set loss to Saskatoon JCVC Black (25-23, 18-25, 8-15).

The 14U Junior SunDogs repeated their 2-1 record in the Tier 1 Playoffs with victories over the Regina QCVC Black Crush (25-18, 25-22) and the Regina RVC Gold (18-25, 25-22, 15-5) and a threeset loss to the Regina QCV Royal (25-23, 23-25, 11-15).

The 14U Junior SunDogs, who were coached by Chelsea Carrick, Megan Szachury, Tyler Hassett and Joceyln Martin, faced Rose Valley in the bronze medal match and won in straight sets (25-19, 2523).

The season will not end just yet for the 14U Junior SunDogs as they will attend 15U Westerns in Regina on May 18-19. The 14U Girls Junior SunDogs volleyball team placed third at Provincial­s in Saskatoon.
