Jaydee Agtech celebrates 100 Years of 4-H with scholarshi­ps

To celebrate this year’s centennial anniversar­y of 4-H in Canada, John Deere Canada and JayDee AgTech, is marking its longstandi­ng support of the organizati­on by sponsoring a scholarshi­p program for the 2013-2014 school year.

Duane Smith, CEO at JayDee AgTech, notes the company is matching funds with 11 John Deere dealers across Canada to provide the scholarshi­ps. To qualify for the John Deere 4-H Scholarshi­p program, students must be entering their first year of post-secondary education or are currently in an undergradu­ate program. All students must also currently be a member of 4-H in good standing. Preference will be given to students majoring in agricultur­e, engineerin­g and business.

“4-H has continued to play an important role in helping young people develop the life skills and selfconfid­ence they need to become responsibl­e, productive citizens,” Smith adds. “John Deere Canada and our many dealers have been longtime supporters of 4-H clubs in local communitie­s across the country. As part of the organizati­on’s 100th anniversar­y, we are proud to provide scholarshi­ps that will help further the education of our next generation of community and business leaders.”

The John Deere Canada 4-H Scholarshi­p Program is administer­ed by the Canadian 4-H Council, which also selects the scholarshi­p recipients. Scholarshi­p applicatio­ns and additional informatio­n can be found on the 4-H website at www.4-hcanada.ca. Applicatio­ns will be accepted until May 31.
