CFUW 100th Anniversary Indigenous Scholarship Lampe/tillotson Physician 2 Scholarship
I am currently doing a double major in Secondary Education and social studies. As someone who comes from a small town, I grew up learning the importance of giving back to their community which is why I aspire to become a teacher. Since a very young age, I have been giving
back to my community in a number of different ways such as being a 4-H member, helping out with the Trinity United Church, and volunteering at the OTJ in my hometown. In more recent years, I have been making plans to volunteer in schools in South Africa, as well as Thailand. Unfortunately, it was put to a halt due do the COVID-19 pandemic, but I fully intend on pursuing these aspirations in the future. I am beyond grateful to have been received this scholarship as it will help me financially, and motivate me to keep working hard.

I am very grateful to the Lampe Foundation for supporting me financially at the University of Sherbrooke - Saguenay Campus. I am currently a third year medical student and have recently started my clerkship rotations in the Chicoutimi Hospital. Due to the pandemic, my rotations are limited to the Saguenay-lac-st-jean region, however I hope to complete more rotations next year in the Sherbrooke region and eventually apply for my residency there. This year I applied to be a representative of PAHO (a branch of the WHO) as part of the Youth for Health group, a post with a two-year term. This will allow me to participate in international health projects with other youth leaders from the America’s.
The financial support I have received from the Lampe Foundation has helped me immensely. I can cover my university tuition and living expenses without having to seek a paying job. With the workload and extracurricular activi

ties, it would have been very hard to maintain a job. Thus, I would like to express my thanks once again to the Foundation for their support.
