The Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre art gallery is exhibiting recent work of painter Sara Peck Colby. Sara Peck Colby has been painting landscapes of Quebec for over forty years. She is drawn to the patterns of nature, rhythms and repeats, shadows, branches, distant fields and forests defining informal glimpses of a peaceful life. Uplands, 9 Speid Street, Borough of Lennoxvill­e is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The exhibit will run until September 2, 2018.

The annual Summer Market of The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW), Sherbrooke and District, will be held in the Scott Hall of the Lennoxvill­e United Church, 6 Church St., Friday, August 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, August 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a giant book sale, a Penny Sale and a Silent Auction; items will range from books, CDS, gift certificat­es, baked goods, jams and more. This is CFUW’S main annual fundraiser. All money raised supports scholarshi­ps and bursaries for local students as well as our annual Public speaking contest. WATERVILLE

Visit the Richmond County Historical Society archives and museum at 1161 Route 243, Melbourne Township on Sunday, August 26 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The theme this year is heritage music and you will discover some fascinatin­g oldtime musical instrument­s and displays. There will be a Garden party with a gin garden and free non-alcohol beverages. This is a family event with music, games, and community spirit. A special “making history” event at 3 p.m. will be a group community photo taken on the lawn of the museum.. Everyone is invited to bring friends and family (and chairs) so that this archival event represents who is making history today!

Lennoxvill­e and District Community Aid is inviting seniors and their families to a presentati­on on ticks by Dr. Jade Savage, Professor of Biological Sciences at Bishop’s University. Dr. Savage will discuss the changing distributi­on of tick species, how some tick species can have an influence on human health, and new methods to monitor the presence of ticks in Canada. The presentati­on will take place on August 30 from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyteri­an Church, 256 Queen St., Lennoxvill­e. Free admission.
