FIVE THINGS

Though New Year’s Eve falls on a Tuesday this year, there is plenty of celebrating happening throughout the weekend,

- writes Erin Petrow.

1. Bollywood DJ Night

Looking to party the night away to the perfect Bollywood soundtrack? The fun begins at 9 p.m. Friday at the Thirsty Scholar

where DJ Prodiigy will be spinning all the best Bollywood music for the New Year’s Bollywood DJ Night.

2. Swinging into the ’20s

If Bollywood isn’t quite your jam, maybe Swingin’ into the

’20s will be more up your alley. Combining the classic tunes of the 1920s with the contemporary sounds of the upcoming decade should make it a great night with great music. The fun takes place Friday from 8-11 p.m. at the Cosmo Seniors Centre, tickets can be purchased online at eventbrite. ca for $15.

3. Have a laugh

Some stress reduction is always needed after Christmas, so why not head over to the Blue Rhino

Pub & Grill on Saturday from 9-11 p.m. for some great local comedy. There is no cover charge to attend and with six local comedians and the chance to win some raffle prizes it should be a grand old time!

4. On the ice

Time is swiftly running out to enjoy one last skate this decade on the Meewasin Skating Rink. As always, skate rentals and use of the rink is free, though donations are always welcome. And with a fire pit and an indoor spot to warm up, there is no reason not to get out and enjoy the last few days of 2019.

5. Visualize 2020

For those looking to get a jump on 2020 and are already planning out their new year, Simply Grounded Coffee Gallery in Stonebridge is hosing a Vision Board Workshop on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. All crafting supplies, and a specialty coffee drink, are included in the $45 ticket price (or $80 if you bring a friend.) Space is limited so make sure to register by emailing carol@simplygrounded.coffee
