‘Strong voice’ for farmers in their pursuit of higher yields
Northland Agronomy scours the fields for valuable data, writes
Saskatchewan is still very much an agriculturally-based province.
That’s why Paul Tastad and the group at Northland Agronomy have had so much to do this summer.
Northland Agronomy is a business born out of necessity in many ways, as producers are often seeking an edge in their crop production and Northland is able to provide independent advice, crop consulting and soil sampling. Tastad says Northland can provide a keen eye for farmers in the never-ending pursuit of better yields.
“We pride ourselves with the independent part of it. We are able to provide a strong voice for farmers,” he says. “We love working with all the farmers and producers across the province.”
Northland agronomists are constantly out in the fields of Saskatchewan, examining crops and creating valuable data.
“Our agronomists are out every day during the summer, collecting data and information,” Tastad says. Northland now employs five full-time agronomists who are pulling numbers and statistics together to help producers get as much out of their land as possible.
Partner that with Western Ag’s five agronomists, and there is strength in numbers, Tastad says. The agronomists have more than 100 years of combined experience and can put that expertise to use for producers across the province.
“We’ve got a pretty good track record and it speaks to what we can do,” he says. “Our customers see our commitment to them, and see us out in the field morning and night.”
Tastad says while the majority of his clients are located within an hour or two of Saskatoon, his agronomists will travel across the western portion of the province to the Alberta border to help producers obtain the results they would like to see.
LAMOROUS BEAUTY CLINIC
A lifetime commitment to hard work has given Yenny Lam a head start in her profession.
It’s that hard work that has enabled Lam to fulfil a dream to open her own salon and clinic. She kept working at it until she made her dream a reality.
“I think I work with my passion and I love my job,” says Lam, who opened her clinic on Idylwyld Drive in June.
Lan came to Canada from Vietnam. She says the example of hard work set by her parents helped get her to where she is today.
“I watched them and now I want to make them proud of me.”
One of the reasons Lam says she has been successful is her commitment to learning. She has attended numerous classes and excelled at them, and attended workshops to gain that extra bit of knowledge she can pass along to her clients.
“I love to to help people feel pretty. That gives people confidence they may be needing. And they feel better about themselves.”
The clinic offers an array of services that include gel nails, eyelash extensions, microblading and permanent makeup. Lam has made great strides since her early days doing pedicures from a chair in her basement.
“I never thought I would be able to do all this on my own,” she says.
She is thrilled with her downtown location because of the high volume of traffic in the area daily.
“I’m surrounded by landmarks here. It’s very easy to get to,” she says. “This location is meant to be for me here.”
