Seven people face drug charges after weekend probes
REGINA — Seven people — including two who previously did time for homicides — were arrested and charged in connection with several drug investigations on the weekend.
David Dylan Dustyhorn, 25, and Christopher Dylan Braun, 33, were among four people charged on Friday, accused of possession of cocaine and morphine for the purpose of trafficking.
Along with Steven Louis Moccasin, 28, and Candace Ashley Kayseass, 24, Dustyhorn and Braun made first appearances at Regina Provincial Court on Monday. The Crown opposed the release of all but Kayseass, who is to follow conditions prohibiting her from possessing alcohol, drugs and cellphones and ordering her to have no contact with her three co-accused.
The three men asked to speak with lawyers prior to their next court appearances this week.
In June 2014, Dustyhorn received the equivalent of an eight-year prison term (16 months was remaining after remand credit) after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the 2010 gang-related beating death of Raymond Bernard Gardypie.
Braun received just over six years in prison in 2006 after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the 2004 stabbing death of Justin Zaba. At the time of his sentencing, court heard Braun had a severe drug problem, having abused cocaine, crack and morphine.
An unrelated investigation led to charges against two more people on Saturday; they also appeared in court Monday.
Shaundel Aisaican, 27, and Brianne Janessa Kelly, 24, are each charged with possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. They are also charged with possession of the proceeds of crime and a range of firearms offences relating to a shotgun.
