The Saskatchewan Music Festival Association (SMFA) is pleased to present its 1st musical theatre competition and 11th opera competition. The competitions will be held in Regina on Saturday, Feb. 22 in the Heritage Lecture Theatre at the Conservatory of Performing Arts from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (musical theatre) and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (opera). The musical theatre master class will be on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The opera master class will be on Sunday, Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Admission is by donation and parking is free in the lot to the south of the conservatory.
A Shrove Tuesday pancake supper is being held on Feb. 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Wesley United Church auditorium. Pancakes, sausages, ice cream and refreshments will be served. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Wesley United Church office or at the door. Ticket prices: adults (ages 12+) $9, family (parents/kids under 12, grandparents/grandkids under 12) $22, children (ages four to 11) $3 per child.
The Regina Horticulture Society education meeting will be on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral (1861 Mcintyre St.) Jackie Bantle from the University of Saskatchewan will speak about common garden myths. Club 66 Social Club Inc. is holding a Valentine’s Day dance at the Regina Senior’s Centre (2134 Winnipeg St.) on Feb. 28 featuring music by Len Gadica. The dance will begin at 8 p.m. and go until midnight at which point lunch will be served. Everyone is welcome. Members get in for $12 and guests for $14.
