Marleau notches winning goal for Pat Canadians

Luc Marleau snapped a 1-1 tie with 6:51 remaining in the third period to help the Regina Pat Canadians defeat the host Prince Albert Mintos 3-1 in Saskatchew­an Midget AAA Hockey League action Sunday.

Blake Swetlikoff and Kyle Forster (with an emptynette­r) also scored for Regina. Jake Huska replied for Prince Albert.

One day earlier, Regina had lost 4-3 in a shootout to the host Beardy’s Blackhawks.

Ryland Mcninch scored the lone shootout goal, in the fifth round.

The Blackhawks’ Joey Hockley scored with 14 seconds remaining in the third period to force overtime.

Daylan Weigel and Holden Doell also scored for Beardy’s. Cole Sillinger, Cal Caragata and Carter Belitski answered for Regina.

The Pat Canadians (112-2-2) are to return to action Wednesday against the Notre Dame Hounds (7-4-2-1). Faceoff is set for 8 p.m., at Duncan Mcneill Arena in Wilcox.

The Regina Rebels split a pair of weekend games with the host Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats.

The Rebels got two goals and one assist from Hanna Bailey on Saturday en route to recording a 4-3 Saskatchew­an Female Midget AAA Hockey League victory.

Swift Current rebounded Sunday by winning 5-2. Brooklyn Rublee had a hat trick.

Brayden Cockwill had two goals to help the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals defeat the West Central Rage 5-2 in Prairie Junior Hockey League action Sunday in Kerrobert.

Jordan Repsch had three assists for the Capitals (124-0-0), who lead the Bill Johnston Division.

Tristin Langan of the Moose Jaw Warriors is the WHL’S player of the week.

He had three goals and five assists in three games while going plus-eight over that span.
