This Saturday, it is time to begin showing your pride and love for the Queen City with I Love Regina Day. For Mayor Michael Fougere, the civic celebration is about growing the city.

“Civic pride is an important element of growing our city and being confident and bold in what we do,” Fougere said. “This is an opportunity for residents to celebrate and think about the great things happening in our city all the time.”

Everything kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Unlike previous years when the event was held at Victoria Park, this year I Love Regina Day will be at the new Mosaic Stadium.

“It is a chance for people to see the stadium. People go to the game, but the average resident who does not go to the game may not have had the opportunity to see the stadium, be on the surface, or see the locker-room,” Fougere said. “There will be some children’s activities. There will be lots to do on the field itself.”

I Love Regina Day runs until 2 p.m. and will include a free barbecue sponsored by the Co-op Refinery Complex. In years past, Fougere has flipped the pancakes at the civic celebration, but may try something different this year.

“I might be involved with flipping some burgers.”

Admission is a non-perishable food item or cash donation for the Regina Food Bank. Visitors are asked to enter through Gate 2 at the stadium. Parking is available at Evraz Place through the Lewvan Drive and Princess Street entrances. The 10th Avenue entrance will be closed for event activities.
