Regina’s Harazny pure gold at World Masters Games

Sandra Harazny of Regina earned three gold medals at the recent World Masters Games in Auckland, New Zealand.

In tennis, she won the women’s 60-plus singles title and teamed with Auckland’s Julie Knight to place first in women’s 50-plus doubles.

As well, Harazny was a member of a gold medal-winning women’s 55-plus basketball team that also included Betty Fornwald of Regina.

Steve Kwasnicki struck out 10 during a complete-game victory to lead the Regina Gold to a 4-1 win over the Earl Grey Rockets in Western Cycle Rambler Park Fastball League action Wednesday at Rambler Park.

On Thursday, the Standing Buffalo Dakotas got a seven-inning, complete game win from Dwayne Redman Jr., in a 4-1 victory over the Bulyea Rustlers. Ryan Sparvier homered for Standing Buffalo.

Jenna Tanner was the winning pitcher as the Rampage defeated the Predators 5-2 in Regina Ladies Softball Associatio­n action Wednesday at Douglas Park.

Brittany Nabhelz, the losing pitcher, slammed a home run for the Predators.

Also on Wednesday, it was: Mystics 12, Diamond Backs 9; Vipers 20, Raiders 4; and, Fusion 7, Thunder 6.

On Thursday, Bret Dundas was the winning pitcher as the Wheat Country Extreme doubled Kaos 8-4.

In Thursday’s other games, the Pasqua Ladies won both ends of a doublehead­er, defeating the Storm 15-0 and the Falcons 11-3.

The 11th annual Saskatchew­an Men’s PubLinx Golf Tournament is to be held June 24-25 at the Tor Hill.

Tyler Zaba of the Wascana Country Club is the defending champion.

The tournament is an Order of Merit event for amateurs and seniors.

The provincial Brazilian jiu-jitsu championsh­ips are to be held Saturday at the Sportsplex.

The event, hosted by Queen City Martial Arts, is to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Campion Grads are playing host to the annual Mike Ryback seven-a-side rugby tournament Saturday at the Regina Rugby Club.

Eight men’s teams and four women’s teams are to compete. Games begin at 10 a.m.
