Health-care system: big thanks

-

Here are well-deserved accolades and kudos to Pasqua Hospital’s ER.

I went to a medi-clinic several weeks ago, was diagnosed with bronchitis and provided meds.

However, I just was not getting better, I could not breathe. So, at 8 a.m. on a Saturday, my wife and I went to the ER at the Pasqua Hospital. When I told my story, I was taken in immediately. The ER was busy, but within an hour I was attended to by Dr. Randall Radford and a nurse named Rachel. The good doctor prescribed four sessions using a nebulizer to improve my breathing and ordered blood tests and chest X-rays.

He explained the tests were to rule out pneumonia or blood clots. Any time I required answers, I was able to talk to the doctor or nurse without hesitation. They even accommodated my claustrophobia by moving me into the aisle and out of a confined room. It was different from the experience I had at the General Hospital ER a while ago.

The tests all came back quite quickly: no clots, no pneumonia, but a severe bronchitis/asthma attack. I was given meds and a puffer, then released by 2 p.m., which was amazing, especially with all that was done.

Can you imagine the cost with private insurance? The public system? No cost.

Premier Wall, the system is good. Public health care is needed.

We would like to thank not only the good doctor and team, but all those behind the scenes. Don Csada, Regina
