Art programs for seniors

-

As health restrictions gently ease, the opportunity for arts and crafters to come back together in limited numbers is great news for summer.

The Penticton Arts Council has several programs underway in July, including a fun “Artsy Aging with Alice” program for seniors 55 and older who’d like to drop in for some creativity and social time.

The next “Artsy Aging with Alice” session will run from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, 22 in the Penticton Arts Council Community Room at Leir House at 220 Manor Park Ave. in Penticton.

Participants can bring along their current arts projects to share with the group or they can bring photos and explore fun new projects with session leader and crafter extraordinaire Alice Strohmaier.

There is a $2 drop in fee and space is limited to 10 participants with masks so register early by calling the Penticton Arts Council at 250-492-7997 or email them at: info@pentictonartscouncil.com

“First Friday Felters” are back in action on the first Friday of each month with forthcoming sessions on Aug. 6 and Sept. 3 and on through the end of the year.

Felters come together to chat about new and on-going projects and socialize as they work with their felt creations.

The sessions are open to 10 participants and run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on monthly first Fridays. Participants gather in the Community Art Room at Leir House, 22 Manor Park Ave. in Penticton.

Masks are required and there is a $2 fee for the drop-in group.

If you’re interested in Friday Felters, register by calling the Arts Council at 250.492.7997 or email programs@pentictonartscouncil.com
