A ‘SOOTHING ESCAPE’

-

For Kellylee Evans, the launch of her new CD Come On is long overdue. She was to have released it two years ago, but health and personal issues, including the aftermath of a concussion, set her back. She’s finally feting the release with a small number of gigs, including her concert at Carleton University on Saturday.

Q Tell me about your new album.

A This is the album that I was meant to release two years ago. And as you can imagine, it was written and recorded in advance of that. So, for me, the album and the release of this music from creation to now has been a long process. I remember, writing it, wanting it to be a fun album that talked about love and life in a positive way. It’s amazing to feel its impact after all these years and all the events that have occurred in my life.

Q How is your health these days?

A I don’t feel fully recovered, but I am working with the idea that recovery may be a longer process than I had originally hoped/foolishly planned for. I am learning after this past little run of dates in the summer and the fall that I need to really be mindful of my energy level and my new abilities. My new capabilities. It’s humbling. And realistic.

Q What hopes do you have for the album?

A My hope is that it provides a soothing escape or respite from life for people that experience it.

Q What’s next for you?

A I’m looking at ways to provide musical content for my fans that requires less physical exertion. And I am revamping my career as a motivational speaker, sharing my story with organizations, school kids and corporations. I’ve been talking to groups about finding their inner superhero. Every one always asks me what I’ve learned from my experiences. I’m finding a lot of peace in sharing that story.
