Dion set for worst with her husband

-

Heartbroken Celine Dion says she’s prepared herself for her ailing husband René Angélil’s death.

In an emotional interview with USA Today, the Canadian songbird revealed that Angélil, 73, is also ready for the end.

“René says to me, ‘I want to die in your arms.’ ‘OK, fine, I’ll be there, you’ll die in my arms,’ ” she told the newspaper.

Preparing for her return at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Aug. 27 — the residency she put on hiatus when Angélil’s throat cancer returned — Dion, 47, said she’s reluctant to return to the stage.

“I didn’t want to be here at first, I don’t need it. Don’t get me wrong, I love singing for people, but I have priorities,” she said. Angélil discovered the singer when she was 12 and he has been a part of her life ever since. Dion admits that it was his guidance that put her on the map.

She added that his courage has helped her heal.

“When it hits me, it’s going to hit me,” she said. “But my biggest job is to tell my husband, ‘We’re fine. I’ll take care of our kids. You’ll watch us from another spot.’ ”

Calling Angélil “the only boyfriend I’ve ever had” and “the leader of the band all my life,” she said she isn’t sure if he’ll be able to attend opening night.

After undergoing procedures in Boston, he is living in their Las Vegas home and has been on a feeding tube for two years, she told the paper. She said they’ve asked doctors how long he has, “but they say they don’t know.”
