WHAT’S OPEN/ CLOSED ON LABOUR DAY

Here’s a partial list of what’s open and closed on Labour Day:

Federal and provincial government offices will be closed.

Most city of Montreal offices will be closed, including borough offices, Accès Montréal and other points of service. The municipal courthouse on Gosford St. will also be closed. Banks will be closed. Most arenas, swimming pools, libraries and sports centres will be closed, though exterior pools and tennis courts may be open. For details and schedules, check with your borough or with the facilities directly.

Public markets, including Jean-Talon, Maisonneuv­e and Atwater, will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Bonsecours Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Retail stores and malls will be closed, but some stores may be open, including restaurant­s, gas stations, bookstores, antique shops and florists.

Small grocery stores may be open, including dépanneurs. Larger grocery stores will be closed.

Many SAQ locations will be open. You can find out about a location near you by visiting the SAQ’s website.

Pharmacies may be open, but with reduced staff.

City of Montreal boroughs will maintain regular garbage and recycling pickups, but some specialize­d pickups will be cancelled or postponed. The bulky item pickup in the Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough has been cancelled.

The city’s ecocentres will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Pointe-à-Callière Museum and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts will be open. The Biodome will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Botanical Garden and the Insectariu­m will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Rio Tinto Alcan Planetariu­m will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The STM will be running on a holiday schedule. Visit stm.info for more informatio­n.

AMT commuter trains will run on Sunday schedules.

Parking meters are still operationa­l and parking restrictio­ns will still apply.
