Moose Monarchs pickup two wins over weekend series

The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs had a winning record over the first weekend of July.

The Monarchs won two of their three games this weekend. They opened the stretch with the only loss, falling 12-2 to the Kalispell Lakers on Saturday.

Landon MacPherson had two hits with an RBI and Asha Frey notched an RBI and a hit.

Jeff Bullock started the game, working 2.2 innings with two strikeouts. Cade Moch worked 1.1 innings out of the bullpen with a strikeout and Parker Hunt recorded an out. Kayne Olinski finished the game with an inning of work, recording a punch-out.

The Monarchs bounced back Saturday with a 9-1 win over Kalispell.

Aidan Eckersall had three hits, notching an RBI and a run scored. Pryce Velichko tallied four RBIs with a hit and a run scored and both Bullock and Olinski had an RBI with a hit and a run scored.

Ryler Straarup started the game on the mound, working five innings with five Ks. Both Cade Harrison and Trevin Ressler worked an inning out of the bullpen, each recording a strikeout.

They finished the weekend with a 9-4 win over the Lakers.

Ressler had four hits with three RBIs and a run scored and Olinski had two hits with an RBI and a run scored. Both Straarup and Mason Heintz tallied an RBI, a hit and a run scored.

Harrison worked six innings on the mound to start the game, striking out eight batters. Ressler came in relief, working a frame.

Knights

The Medicine Hat Knights of Columbus had five games over the weekend in Montana.

The started the action on Friday, falling 12-9 to the Glendive Blue Devils.

Ward Davies had three hits with two RBIs and two runs scored and Ayden Anderson had two hits with two runs scored and an RBI. Lance Cunningham had two hits with an RBI and a run scored.

Cole Carlson started the contest, working four innings with three strikeouts. Davies pitched two innings of relief, with two strikeouts.

The Knights lost 10-5 on Saturday to the Billings Expos. Davies had two hits with two RBIs and Ty Meyer had two hits with an RBI.

Anderson started the game for the Knights, recording eight strikeouts in 3.2 innings.

Meyer pitched the last 2.1 innings of the game, notching four punch-outs.

The Knights lost their second game Saturday, falling 5-4 to Glendive.

Cunningham had two RBIs with a hit and Davies had a hit with an RBI and a run scored.

James Cole started the game, recording four strikeouts in five innings of work. Kane Bishop worked 1.2 innings on the mound.

The Knights got in the winning ways, with an 11-3 victory Sunday over the Blue Devisl B.

Meyer had four RBIs on two hits with a run scored and Carlson had two RBIs with two runs scored and a hit. Cole recorded two RBIs with two hits and a run scored.

Jayden Mook started the game, working six innings with six strikeouts and Ethan Chenard pitched an inning.

They finished the weekend with a 16-5 win over the Miles City Mavericks.

Carlson led the offence with three RBIs, three hits and two runs scored. Meyer had three runs scored with two RBIs and a hit. Chenard tallied two hits with two runs scored.

Cunningham started the game on the mound, with a strikeout in 3.2 innings pitched. Davies finished the game, recording a punch-out in 3.1 innings on the mound.
