Weekend happenings
It’s another busy weekend in Medicine Hat and surrounding area, with a handful of events taking place.
The Seedy Saturday Seed Swap is taking place from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Police Point Park Nature Centre.
The event is held in conjunction with Community Food Connections and the Medicine Hat Family and Community Support Services, with people encouraged to bring extra seeds to exchange for new ones, or to bring an empty container to take some new seeds home for free.
There will also be opportunities to ask the different groups questions about gardening.
The event is free and open to the public.
Paddling Club events
The Medicine Hat Paddling Club has two events this weekend, with a Seven Persons Creek Cleanup event Saturday and a pool kayaking session on Sunday.
The cleanup event is part of the Litter Blitz events held by the City of Medicine Hat’s parks and recreation department. People who are interested should meet at the Kin Coulee Toboggan Hill Warming Hut at 8:45 a.m.
The pool kayaking evening will take place from 12-4 p.m. at Crestwood Pool. Anyone under the age of 18 needs to have a parent or guardian with them to attend this event.
Law Day
Saturday also marks the annual Law Day celebrations at the provincial courthouse.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and features for people of all ages, including courtroom tours, a children’s’ mock trial, as well as numerous displays and demonstrations throughout the day.
Local court-related services will have information booths set up, and the Medicine Hat Police Services K-9 Unit will be doing a presentation.
