Bulls at home for a trio

- LETHBRIDGE HERALD

After a six-game road swing north, the Lethbridge Bulls return to Spitz Stadium for a three-game stand starting tonight.

The Bulls are back at Spitz Stadium for the first time since June 14 when they host the Brooks Bombers during Western Major Baseball League action at 7:05 p.m.

The Bulls and Bombers go back at it again Friday at 7:05 p.m. before Lethbridge closes out their homestand Saturday when the Okotoks Dawgs — whose last trip to Spitz Stadium last week resulted in a 12-9 win — come calling, also at 7:05 p.m.

On their six-game trek that took them through Edmonton, Fort McMurray and Brooks, the Bulls went 3-3, having completed the road trip with a 7-2 win over the Bombers Tuesday night in Brooks.

But in a four-game weekend series in Fort McMurray, the Bulls were only able to take away one win after starting the trip with a win in Edmonton over the Prospects last Thursday.

With the .500 road swing the Bulls are 10-5, half a game behind the 10-4 Dawgs and one game up on the 8-5 Prospects.

With his home run Tuesday in Brooks, Bulls first baseman Alex Bishop now has four round-trippers on the season and is in a threeway tie for first place in the league. His 18 RBI this season has him in fourth place in the league.

Bulls catcher Carter Witbeck has also cracked the top-10 in RBI with 14, good for seventh place. Witbeck’s batting average of .356 in 15 games also has him in 10th place in the league. He is also in a four-way tie for third in hits with 21, while Bishop is one back in that department. The duo also lead the Bulls in doubles with five each.

On the mound, Bulls starter Greg Hollman is in a three-way tie for wins with three. The product of Sherwood Park’s ERA of 2.95 has him ranked 10th in the league.

Brady Moxham leads the Bulls in strikeouts with 16.

Lethbridge closer Chris Stodolka is second in the league in saves with five and picked up his first win of the season Saturday night in Fort McMurray.

After Saturday night’s game against the Dawgs, the Bulls head to Okotoks Sunday for a makeup game after the teams’ June 13 game was rained out.
