The Exhibition Park Farmers’ Market has wrapped up a successful year with a Halloweenthemed Saturday.

Tracy Austin, event co-ordinator and marketing manager for the Farmers’ Market, said this past year was another one of strong support from the regional community.

“It went really great,” she said. “A really good turnout. Lots of support from the city and from the surrounding communities, as well.”

Austin said people coming to the Farmers’ Market can expect to find tables loaded with local meats and produce and handmade items. There are also rare finds tough to get anywhere else.

“We have casual vendors so every week is different,” she said.

On Saturday, there were plenty of Halloween costumes in the aisles. Austin said the plan is to have more fun events for children in the future.

“This year, we only Halloween,” she said. “Hopefully next year we’ll be doing two or three themed events.”

They are also great places for local microbusinesses to gain access to an eager customer base.

“It brings everything together into one area,” Austin said. “They can find everything from their meats to vegetables and everything like that. Also, supporting local business, and bringing everyone together for that as well.”

The market draws 5,000 to 7,000 people per weekly event for 25 weeks out of the year. It is expected to re-open around the middle of May next year.
