ZÉRO L'Église anglicane du Canada, dont le vote pour approuver le mariage homosexuel n'a pas été adopté lors de son assemblée générale le 12 juillet. HÉROS Les quelques milliers de militants LGBTQ qui ont participé aux toutes premières marches de la fierté dans leur ville natale: Katmandou au Népal (29 juin); Skopje en Macédoine du Nord (29 juin); Tiblisi, Géorgie (8 juillet); Bialystok en Pologne, avec la police anti-émeute pour protéger les marcheurs de 4 000 homophobes d'extrême droite (20 juillet) qui leurs lançaient des bouteilles; Sarajevo, capitale de la Bosnie-Herzégovine (8 septembre); et la deuxième plus grande ville d’Ukraine, Kharkiv (15 septembre).
HÉROÏNE La Première ministre serbe ouvertement lesbienne, Ana Brnabic, pour avoir participé à la marche de la fierté de Belgrade le 15 septembre. ZÉRO Nivea, dont l'agence de publicité mondiale FCB s’est dissociée, après qu'un responsable marketing ait indiqué «Nous ne ferons pas de pub gaie chez Nivea» quand on lui a proposé une campagne où l’on voyait deux hommes se toucher les mains. HÉROS Coca-Cola, qui a lancé sa campagne publicitaire «Love is Love» en Hongrie, mettant en vedette des couples homosexuels qui s'embrassent et qu’elle a gardée malgré la controverse. HÉROÏNE La compagnie de produits hygiénique Always qui a annoncé en octobre qu'elle redessinerait ses serviettes et tampons pour être plus inclusifs. Always supprimera le symbole Venus - utilisé pour représenter le sexe féminin - de ses produits pour être plus inclusive pour ses clientes transgenres et non binaires.
HÉROS Le militant et avocat LGBTQ Maurice Tomlinson pour sa lutte à pouvoir organiser une Fierté à Montego Bay en Jamaïque.. HÉROÏNE L'Université de Winnipeg, pour le lancement de ses archives bispirituelles, les premières au Canada. Le militant bispirituel de longue date Albert McLeod a fait don de la plupart des éléments des archives. HÉROS Les milliers d’étudiants albertains qui sont sortis de leurs classes, le 3 mai, pour protester contre la position du premier ministre Jason Kenney selon laquelle les parents devraient être informés lorsque leurs enfants rejoignent des alliances gai-e-s hétéros à l’école. ZÉRO L’ex-chef du Parti conservateur du Canada, Andrew Scheer, pour ses opinions anti-LGBTQ. ZÉRO Le vice-président du Toronto Catholic District School Board, Michael Del Grande, qui a comparé les questions et réalités LGBTQ à la bestialité et à la pédophilie. HÉROS Les résidents de Chilliwack, en Colombie-Britannique, qui ont peint 16 passages pour piétons aux couleur de l’arc-en-ciel LGBTQ+ sur leurs propriétés privées en novembre après que le conseil municipal a voté contre la peinture d'un passage pour piétons aux couleur de l’arc-en-ciel en ville pour soutenir la fierté LGBTQ.

HERO Serbia’s openly-lesbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic for marching in Belgrade’s Pride march on September 15.
ZERO Nivea, who were dropped by the FCB advertising agency after a Nivea rep allegedly said “We don’t do gay at Nivea” when shown an ad with two men touching hands.
HERO Coca-Cola, who launched their hugely controversial “Love is Love” ad campaign in Hungary, featuring gay couples kissing. HERO Always sanitary products, who announced in October it will redesign its pad products to be more inclusive: Always will remove the Venus symbol – used to represent the female sex – from its products to be inclusive of transgender and nonbinary customers.

HEROES Residents of Chilliwack, B.C., who painted 16 Rainbow crosswalks on their private properties in November after city council voted against painting a Rainbow crosswalk in town to support LGBTQ Pride. ZERO U.S. President Donald Trump. On November 4, the Trump Administration announced the immediate repeal of sexual orientation and gender identity nondiscrimination provisions in federal health regulations, capping a year of actions by the administration undermining the health and well-being of LGBTQ Americans and those living with HIV.
