MCLEAN, Mary “Colleen”

It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Mary “Colleen “McLean (Nightingal­e), 74, announce her passing on July 1, 2024, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a short battle of pneumonia. Born on May 4, 1950, to the late Albert and Rachel (Burke) Nightingal­e of Glace Bay. In Colleen’s earlier years she worked at the Šsh plant in Louisbourg, but her greatest joy was being a stay-at-home mom and raising her three children whom she loved and adored. Colleen leaves behind her dear husband of 51 years, William “Bill” McLean; three children, Todd (Kathleen) of London, ON, Jamie of Glace Bay; her daughter and best friend, Sandie Milley (Shawn) of Kingston, ON. Also leaving to mourn is her six grandchild­ren who were the light in her eyes, and she loved them so very much, Ashton, Marissa, Brandon, Ana, Max, Mylee. She will be missed by her sisters, Marie (Truman), Diane (Gord), Karen, Louis, Eileen; and a brother, Albert (Sharon). Also, her special friends, Joe and Thelma Melnick. Colleen was predecease­d by her parents, Albert and Rachel (Burke) Nightingal­e; sister, Kathleen; brothers, Billie, Johnny and Gerald; and her in-laws, William (Lobster) McLean and Martha (Verge). Special thanks to Dr McLean, Dr Gillis, and the amazing nursing sta› on the fourth œoor Palliative Care Unit, CBRH, who took such great care of Colleen. There will be no services as per Colleen’s wishes. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to the care and compassion of T.J.
