Clayton Floyd wins first club championship at Lingan; Lincoln Bradley captures Seaview club championship
SYDNEY, N.S. — Two Cape Breton golf facilities held their annual men’s club championship tournaments this past weekend.
In Sydney, Clayton Floyd captured his first club championship at Lingan Golf and Country Club after posting a two-day 145 total.
The Sydney golfer, who finished in second place in the tournament in 2018, 2020 and 2021, recorded a 70 on the opening day of the event on Saturday, before posting a 75 on the final day on Sunday.
Glen Campbell and Matt Murchison finished tied for second place with matching 146 scores. Campbell posted a 71 on Saturday and 75 on Sunday, while Murchison recorded a 69 on Saturday and a 77 on Sunday.
Chad Hoffman finished in fourth place with a 147 total, while Travis Lynk, Todd McDougall and Corson Roach were tied for fifth place with a 148 total.
Meanwhile, in North Sydney, Lincoln Bradley regained the club championship at Seaview Golf and Country Club, taking home the title with a two-day 140 total.
The championship win is Bradley’s third in 10 years at the club. He won the tournament in back-to-back years in 2012 and 2013.
Aaron Barrington, who won the tournament in both 2015 and 2016, finished in second place with a 146 total, while two-time champion Jack Chafe was in third place at 150. A.J. Ley and Mitch Burke were tied for fourth place with a matching 151 total.
Next on the calendar is the club championship at Bell Bay Golf Club in Baddeck. The event will take place this weekend. Meanwhile, the club championship at Le Portage Golf Club in Cheticamp is slated for Aug. 20-21.
