MACKENZIE, Duncan Macrae

-

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Duncan (Rae) on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in his 91st year. He was a licensed minister with the Pentecostal Ministry of Canada. Also, an employee of the Canadian National Railway for 28 1/2 years. He moved to Hamilton 65 years ago, but was proudly born and raised in Cape Breton Island. He always enjoyed his return visits every summer back to his Cape Breton family and friends. He will be missed by daughter, Bonnie (Dennis); grandchildren, Christinna (Keyon), and Cameron (Kelly) and great granddaughters, Mackenzie, Taylor, and Jordyn. Predeceased by daughter, Annie; granddaughter, Melissa Leblanc; two sisters, Agnes Mackillop, and Mary Macaulay, and seven brothers, Hector, John, Murdock, Donald, Robert, Harold, and Ken. Also predeceased by nephew, Bryan Mackenzie who he thought of as a son, and very good friend of 30+ years, Ron Drysdale. Also predeceased by mother, Annie Mae and father, Daniel Mackenzie. Duncan will be lovingly remembered by his dear friend, Dorthy Turner; many nieces and nephews and by friends from Rosedale and Club 60 Seniors Bid Euchre Groups. One of Duncan's favourite things was sitting around the dinner table sharing good food with family and friends, and of course a good game of cards afterwards. So, in Duncan's memory, donations to the food bank would be greatly appreciated. As per his wishes Cremation will take place at a later date as his body is being donated to the Education Program in Anatomy at Mcmaster University. Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. There will be an announcement in the newspaper regarding date, place and time. Family and friends will be warmly welcomed.
