It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Gordon Findlay MacQueen, age 83, of Sydney on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

He was the son of the late Malcolm and Christine (Walker) MacQueen.

His pride and joy were his five daughters; 14 grandchild­ren and three great-grandchild­ren; family first. His wife Marion was his best friend, they were always by each other’s side before her passing last year, whether it was going on a long drive around Cape Breton or visiting with their girls and their grandchild­ren. Gordon retired from the Federal Government after 35 years of service. He was an accomplish­ed woodworker and carver. He helped start the walking club at the Archibald track, where he walked everyday for 35 years.

He is survived by his loving family, Carol Ann MacQueen and her children, Samuel and Scott Fahie; Mary Pyke, her children, Justin (Kristen), Matthew and Christine (Travis) and Christine’s children, Rylan & Elliot; Linda MacPhee, her children, Kayla, Jessica, Emily, Malcolm, Liam and their father, Neil MacPhee; Brenda Chisholm (Paul), their children, Joanne (Ryan) & Paulina and Joanne’s son, Lucas; Janice Galvez (Wilfredo) and their children, Maximo & Zacarias; Bill Martin, his MacLeod family and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gordon was predecease­d by the love of his life, his wife, Marion (MacLeod) MacQueen; his brother, Ross MacQueen and infant son, Gordon Joseph.

Visitation for Mr. MacQueen will take place on Friday, October 5 from 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Joe MacKenzie officiatin­g. Interment in Resurrecti­on Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

Donations may be made to the An Cala Unit, Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
