Pelly nets hat trick to lead Reds past Marauders

Faith Pelly’s first half hat trick powered the Riverview Reds to a 5-1 win over the Memorial Marauders in Cape Breton High School Soccer League girls’ action at Memorial on Wednesday.

Lilly Farrell and Breanna Lane also chipped in with goals for the Reds.

Sophie Bunbury had the lone goal for the Marauders.

In boys’ action, Riverview’s junior varsity team defeated the Glace Bay Panthers 3-1 at Riverview High School.

Adeniyi Inialuwa, Brady MacLean and Dylan Quirk scored goals for the Reds.

Blake Boutilier had the only marker for the Panthers.

In the evening game on Wednesday, Breton Education Centre was scheduled to host Glace Bay in girls’ action. Score results were not available at press time.

In Cape Breton Middle School Soccer League girls’ action on Wednesday, Ava MacKinnon and Meagan Muise shared the shutout as Breton Education Centre blanked Centre scolaire Étoile de l’Acadie 3-0 at Steelman’s Memorial Field in Sydney.

Isabella White, Alexa Murphy and Emmy Donovan each scored a goal for BEC.

In other girls’ action at Open Hearth Park in Sydney, Malcolm Munroe and Oceanview Education Centre battled to a 1-1 draw.

Allie MacLeod had the goal for Malcolm, while Gillain Chauder found the back of the net for OVEC.

In boys’ action, Whitney Pier Memorial edged Centre scolaire Étoile de l’Acadie 2-1 at Neville Park in Whitney Pier.

Darren Reynolds and Josh Gogan had the goals for the WPM.

Noah Chiasson netted the only goal for the Sydney school.

Score results from Tuesday, in the Cape Breton High School Soccer League boys’ action, Breton Education Centre over Sydney Academy 5-0, Riverview blanked Glace Bay 8-0, and Memorial and Riverview JV tied 3-3.

Tuesday score results in the Cape Breton Middle School Soccer League, Malcolm Munroe defeated Breton Education Centre 4-2 in boys’ action, while BEC shutout Malcolm Munroe in girls’ action 12-0.
