It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Ramona ‘Mona’ Woodfine, age 82, on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at her home.

Born in North Sydney on July 19, 1936, Mona was the daughter of the late Alexander and Florence (Jarvis) Harper. She met and married William Woodfine and started her adventure as an army wife travelling in Canada and Germany. William and Mona’s hearts were always in Cape Breton, returning to North Sydney whenever they could. They settled in Sydney Mines when it was time to retire 43 years ago. Mona was a devoted mother and loved good music, a good book and a good dance.

She is survived by her devoted son, Mark, Sydney Mines; loving daughter, Ramona ‘Buttons’ Caines, Halifax; her grandchild­ren, Devin (Michelle) Rideout, Amanda (Stephen) Denton, Leslie Caines; great-grandchild­ren, Evelyn and Benjamin Denton. She is also survived by her sister, Vi Perro of North Sydney, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predecease­d by her husband, William; her sisters, Mabel, Ada, Jean, Delores; brothers, Guy, Calvin, Roland, Jackie, and brothers and sisters in infancy.

There will be no visitation or funeral service as per Mona’s wishes. A private family graveside committal service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
