Exit 8 on Highway 125 closed until Thursday

Late fall roadwork continues in other areas of Cape Breton

-

Several late fall construction projects in Cape Breton are continuing to affect traffic patterns.

The Exit 8 westbound ramp to Highway 125 is closed to all traffic until Thursday.

This is to allow the realignment of the exit ramps to connect to the newly built twinned highway.

A detour is available by taking Martha Boulevard at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital to the Churchill Drive westbound Exit 7A near Membertou.

In Richmond County, alternating lane closures continue until the end of the month for a 5.5-kilometre stretch of road on Highway 4 through Soldiers Cove and Potlotek First Nation.

Roadwork takes place from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. during the week.

Sections of the Trans Canada Highway 105 east of Port Hastings for about 13.5 kilometres to Queensville, Inverness Co., will be reduced to one lane for paving until Dec. 15.

Traffic control people and a pilot vehicle are on site to direct motorists. Work takes place from 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

The Transportation Department is also asking motorists to be mindful of a lane closure on the Middle River Bridge at Nyanza on Highway 105.

Traffic control signals are in place and repairs on the bridge are expected to continue until Dec. 15.
