Joel Plaskett Emergency coming to Sydney.

SYDNEY — Christmas is coming early for Joel Plaskett fans.

The Joel Plaskett Emergency, featuring Plaskett, Dave Marsh and Chris Pennell, will take the stage at the Savoy Theatre in Glace Bay, Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Earlier this year, the internationally-renowned trio worked around the clock to write, record, mix and release to the world a brand new song every week for 10 weeks. The result is the 2012 Polaris Prize long listed “Scrappy Happiness” album that includes tracks like “Harbour Boys,” “North Star,” “Somewhere Else, and “Tough Love,” which is currently climbing the East Coast Countdown charts.

“Scrappy Happiness” is Plaskett's eighth album and the Emergency have been touring steadily since its release. The album, a melodic rock record, is the followup to Plaskett's critically acclaimed triple record, “Three,” which offered up a range of songs, from pure pop to soul stirring folk.

In addition to his writing and performing, Plaskett is also a sought-after producer, and has worked with a long list of artists including Sarah Slean, Al Tuck, David Myles, Steve Poltz, and most recently, up-and-coming artist Mo Kenney, who will also open for him at the Savoy.

Tickets to Joel Plaskett Emergency are $37.50 and are available through the Savoy box office at 842-1577, or online at tickets.capebreton.ca.
