MOUNTAIN OF STORAGE

Cedarglen Living’s Banff model boasts big pantry, eye-catching kitchen

- JOSH SKAPIN

To anyone who enjoys cooking at home, storage and food preparation space are essential ingredients.

These qualities are part of what makes the kitchen in the Banff model by Cedarglen Living such a fetching space. The townhome model, which is available from 1,620 to 1,670 square feet, is part of a development dubbed the Terrace at the Parks of Harvest Hills, where it is presented as a show home.

The townhome has a two-car front attached garage.

A pantry is not automatically an included feature in townhomes. This model not only has one — but it’s considerably larger than many seen in homes of this kind.

This takes the pressure off the cabinets — which are also generously proportioned in this home — creating a more orderly space for the household’s pots, pans, slow cooker, rice cooker and dishware.

The kitchen, formatted in an L-shaped design, has five floating shelves. In the show home, they are used to present a collection of cookbooks.

Allowing one to comfortably spread out all the elements of a meal as it is being prepared, there is a long stretch of counter beneath a large window, and a substantial island.

The island also has a sink and eating bar with seating for at least four people, making it a welcoming space in which to socialize.

Also featured in the kitchen is a tile backsplash and stainless steel appliances, including an over-therange microwave.

The kitchen faces a dining area and is adjacent to a great room, all connected through an open-concept design.

Natural light is at the forefront of the great room. There is a large window on the rear-facing wall and two more panes on a side wall. The space, itself, comfortably fits multiple pieces of furniture, and allows plenty of space to circulate.

This gathering space extends to the outdoors with a deck accessed through a door with a glass insert.

On the ground level, just off the garage, there is 197 square feet of developed space. This section of the home is full of potential, meeting the needs of everything from a home office to an art studio.

The second level is available in either a double master bedroom or three bedroom format. This show home presents the latter.

Its master bedroom sits along the back wall and boasts an elegant ensuite and walk-in closet comparable in size to what one would find in a single-family home.

In this ensuite, there’s no risk of a cluttered vanity. There are two sinks — beneath a full-width mirror — with considerable space between them. Each partner in the couple has the room they need for hygiene and hair products.

The two secondary bedrooms are front-facing and sit side-byside.

The Parks of Harvest Hills, located just off Country Hills Boulevard, features 7.2 hectares of open space.

Its location puts residents within a quick drive to a range of shopping amenities. This includes the District, Harvest Hills Crossing and Country Hills Town Centre, which is anchored by a Sobeys grocery store.
