BOSTON EMS

Unscripted series with medical themes have been parts of ABC’s summer lineup for years, and the second season premiere of this show maintains the tradition. As its title suggests, it follows Massachuse­tts first responders as they deal with a variety of cases. Some of those profiled here have connection­s to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings. (ABC)

You’d figure that someone jumping out of an airplane from an altitude of 25,000 feet would want something to cushion the blow of reconnecti­ng with Earth. Then, there’s Luke Aikins, a skydiver and precision flyer who evidently doesn’t need anything like ... oh, a parachute. He attempts the stunt in this new special, allegedly taking the plunge with only the clothes he has on. (Fox)

The reimagined buddy-cop drama, based the feature-film franchise starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, airs a new episode tonight in which a young woman disappears from a hotel that is believed to be haunted. Capt. Cole ( Wendie Malick), fearing the return of a serial killer, hands the problem over to Det. Lee (Jon Foo), a master martial arts proponent from Hong Kong, and Det. Carter (Justin Hires), a wisecracki­ng cop. (CBS)

20/ 20: IN AN INSTANT

Murder in the Maternity Ward recreates the true-life and frightenin­g dilemma of the patients and staff of a hospital invaded by a vengeful gunman. The targeted doctor appears here, discussing the actions he took to protect newborns and their mothers. Stories of nurses who similarly worked to keep those in their care safe are also told. (ABC)
