The twister that nearly touched down near Priddis Greens on July 22 certainly gave the out of town guests something to tweet about.

Sobeys Inc. brass and suppliers from across the country came to Calgary for the Sobeys Inc. Better Food Fund Charity Golf Classic which took place July 22-23. Select guests were on the links earlier in the day and the reception was held in Gasoline Alley at Heritage Park that evening. The twister was a hot topic for all involved.

Glorious weather on the final day ensured the tournament was a resounding success. It raised $820,000 for Sobeys Inc. Better Food Fund partners whose mandate is to provide Canadians — regardless of income, age or ability — access to affordable wholesome food, basic cooking skills and nutrition education.

The Charity Golf Classic brought together hundreds of suppliers in a collective commitment to improving the lives of others. The efforts of 120 employee volunteers and close to 100 sponsors paid off in spades.

For over 108 years, Sobeys has supported the more than 900 communities they serve.

The Sobeys Inc. Better Food Fund was launched in October 2014 to support access to and the advancement of better food through donations and partnerships with Canadian charities that share in Sobeys’ promise of helping Canadians “Eat Better, Feel Better and Do Better.”
