Warmth meets style in house

Millenium model exudes luxury

- CLAIRE YOUNG

This home could throw a party like it’s 1999.

The Millenium show home by Truman Homes is one of seven contemporary floor plans available in West Point Estates, developed by Truman Development Corp.

The large great room of this 2,642-square-foot, two-storey home is a warm and welcoming gathering place for an evening of entertainment.

Open to the second floor, a dark, rough-cut stone feature set with a gas fireplace reaches halfway up the main wall.

Combining functionality with style, it is framed by a wide plant shelf with space above for art.

Balancing the weight of the dark stone is the kitchen in white on the opposite side of the room. The island, with a double undermount sink, has a waterfall countertop in white quartz.

The ledge is extended and seats two or three.

Clean white cabinets cover the fridge, pantry and the cabinets surrounding the double wall oven, while below the gas range are a second tone of cabinets shadowing the reflection of the island.

An elegant tile mosaic backsplash of white marble set in raised pattern reflects a refined positive counterpoint to the dark stone fireplace surround.

Appliances are stainless steel by Bosch. A visually weightless glass table set for six floats in the dining nook between the kitchen and great room.

The mudroom to the side of the kitchen offers large closets for storing coats and a built-in bench for sitting on to put on shoes.

There is also a walk-in pantry with built-in shelves. The mudroom has access to the front-attached two-car garage.

Open visually to the great room, but separated by the glass-walled stairwell, is the formal dining room.

A chandelier in steel and glass is like fireworks punctuating the space above the dining table.

A front foyer next to the dining room offers access to a spacious den at the front of the home.

Upstairs, a large loft open to the great room below is a comfortable retreat for family movie night.

To one side of this room is the master bedroom. Its tone of a luxury retreat is set with the double-sided fireplace warming the bedroom and the ensuite.

Access to the ensuite is offered on either side of the fireplace column. A soaker tub is opposite the fireplace, under a window.

Its tap hardware is plumbed through a tiled column that feeds the spa shower on the opposite side.

A short hallway from the ensuite offers access to the water closet to the right, the walk-in closet straight ahead and the walk-through upstairs laundry room to the left.

From the loft, a turn to the left leads to two spacious secondary bedrooms and the main bathroom with a trough sink and two sets of taps.
