The people of Berwick continue to fill their calendars with fun and worthwhile events.

The Rebekahs met June 7 with Noble Grand Zillah Gaul presiding. On the sick list were Vice Grand Jeanette Crawford, Mary Mclellan and Gloria Cunningham.

The group will take part in the Berwick-wide yard sale on July 29. The following day they will also be taking part in the march-in for the Berwick Camp meeting that will open the church service. Following the service, the Rebekahs will be holding a tea in their hall on Cottage Street. This will consist of a salad plate, dessert, tea or coffee for a cost of $10. The general public is welcome.

The lodge will have its closing meeting for the summer on June 21. This will be followed by a potluck supper. The group will start again on Sept. 6.

The Mission Outreach Society of the Berwick Baptist Church held its June meeting at Silvers’ Rest Home on June 8. Frances Lowe provided the music. A farewell gift was presented to Mary Perkins, who is moving away. They also had a farewell cake for her.

The card party held at the Rebekah Hall, June 10, had the following prizewinne­rs: first, Lewis Silver; second, Larry Caldwell; third, Janet Demille; fourth, Arthur Salsman; door prize, Andrea Hale and 50/50 went to Janet Demille. This will be the last card party for a while.

Upcoming events include:

- St. Mary’s Church in Auburn will be having a Heritage Tea on June 24 from 1 to 4 p.m.

- The next Christ Church luncheon will be held July 6.

- A strawberry supper will be held at the East Dalhousie Community Centre on Saturday, July 8 starting at 4:30 p.m. Adults, $11; five to 12 years, $5 and under five, free. Proceeds will go to St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church.

- The Berwick and District Library: Summer Reading Club has sign up beginning June 27 until August 4th. There will be reading fun and lots of activities for children up to 12 as well as 12 to 16-yaer-olds, with a Fastpass to Upper Clements at the end.
