Car World collaborates with CITF
Car World together with the Construction Industry Trust Fund (CITF) have recently entered into a partnership to work together in a number of collaborations.
In terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Car World and CITF will develop and capacitate locals in various skills and competences that both organizations offer. The primary purpose of the agreement is to develop and implement a program which integrates Car World Social Development Strategy and CITF strategy with particular relevance to the Socio Economic Development requirement and the CITF mandate of training and upgrading artisans and craftsmen. The MOU will focus on skills development and skill competencies in various trades from engineering, automobile repairs, construction and manufacturing. The agreement further states that the focus will be on identifying young men and women from rural areas as well as small towns and engage them in these programs so that they attain skills. Although the main focus is on youth between the ages of 16-35 years, the program will not be limited to this group, but will also be open to more Batswana who seek to develop skills or further develop their existing skills. The role of Car World in the MOU will be to supply all training materials and equipment; provide technical support and to provide practical training site located at its office. CITF on the other hand will identify trainees to join training days; provide training schedule with Car World; monitor the quality of the program and contribute to the reports per section and issue competency certificates to trainees upon completion. Speaking at the signing ceremony, CITF Executive Director, Sabryn Tsie said CITF is mandated to provide skills relevant to the economy and skills that will drive the economy forward. “Because CITF is an institution which is industrybased, we work with a lot of companies to try and close industry gaps that they see or that they have, hence the signing of this agreement,” said Tsie. For his part, Car World Director, Rupindra Chahal said the overall objective is to improve the general workforce by making it more qualified in the automobile industry. “This will help produce a skilled man-power that meets its customer requirements. These trainings are focused on the disadvantaged who may not have made it into tertiary institutions,” said Chahal. Chahal said trainees will be exposed to real world products, equipment and services which guarantees skills empowerment in the automobile industry.
