It has been two decades of amazing prizes by leading local supermarket chain, Choppies and consumers are set for much greater life changing giveaways for the 20th anniversary of the Big Birthday Bonanza competition. The Choppies’ 20th Big Birthday Bonanza began on Wednesday, October 19, 2023 and will run until January 6, 2024.
Choppies will in the 20th edition of the competition give away P6million worth of prizes while there is an addition of the ultimate grand prize. Choppies’ 20th Big Birthday Bonanza ultimate grand prize is a luxurious new Mercedes Benz C-200 in addition to the five Nissan Navara cars to be won. Three customers will walk away with P500 choppies vouchers weekly while 96 customers will take home P2000 vouchers monthly
Speaking at competition launch, Choppies Group’s chief executive officer, Ramachandran Ottapathu said the competition over the past two decades has helped elevate the lives of the Batswana and Choppies is committed to add extra incentives in each edition of the competition. “There was one or two incidents we can cherish, there is lady who bought one ultra milk.
She was physically disabled, she could not move and she won a car. She bought ultra milk for a few Pulas and she won a car. So it is gratifying to say that this has brought back a lot
of money, welfare in to the communities. This what we do, to try to spread as much as welfare in our communities,” Ottapathu said.
For his part, the Minister of Minerals and Energy, Lefoko Moagi said the Choppies Big Birthday Bonanza aligns with President, Mokgweetsi Masisi’s initiatives, to have a Mindset Change, Reset Agenda and the Transformation Trajectory. He lauded Choppies for the inclusion of the staff to enter the competition as he said will serve an encouragement to the employees.
“Choppies continues to surpass expectations as far as giving back. I am elated that Choppies continues to employ, avail business opportunities and offer various CSR (Corporate Social Resposibility) support to citizens across the country. It is through initiatives like this that one will see Batswana prospering and beating economic diversities especially during economic challenging times like this,” Moagi said.
To stand a chance to walk away with the ultimate prize, customers are required to buy any of the products on promotion to enter the competition. The Choppies Big Birthday Bonanza started in 2003 then with just one car to be won. The competition has massively grown over the past 20 years as Choppies has give away 256 vehicles and prizes exceed the P100million mark in worth.
