FRANCISTOWN CAMPUS CELEBRATES 15 YEARS ANNIVERSARY
The Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) Francistown Campus has been hailed for continuing to play an essential role in the provision of quality education and development of industry relevant graduands over time.
This was underscored by the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Honourable Aubrey Lesaso, when giving a keynote address during the Francistown Campus Anniversary Opening Ceremony on 15th September 2023.
The event was celebrated under the theme, “Celebrating 15 Years of Growth and Excellence, Taboka Francistown". "Education and skills contribute to social and economic development; therefore, I applaud BAC for its commitment to delivering qualifications and imparting skills." He further highlighted that the growth of the Francistown Campus is not just an achievement for BAC, but an achievement for the Ministry of Education and Skills Development because the contribution of institutions such BAC is critical for achieving the knowledgebased economy.
In her welcome remarks BAC Executive Director, Ms. Serty Leburu explained what the theme meant to BAC, "This theme reflects BAC’s deepest and most sincere gratitude for the evolution the Francistown Campus has undergone over the years." Ms. Leburu further expounded on the growth that the BAC Francistown Campus has realized to date, noting that the Campus made strides not only towards providing qualifications but has undertaken out-of-classroom projects to make an impact to various communities.
The Mayor of the City of Francistown, His Worship Honorable Godisang Radisigo expressed his jubilation and gratitude to the Francistown Campus as it adds to the vibrancy of the city. “I am happy that through BAC’s commitment to growing its impact in the north, today we have gathered here to celebrate this remarkable milestone.”
The BAC Francistown Campus now hosts four hundred and eight (408) students from the forty (40) students at its inception. The Campus boasts over one thousand (1,000) alumni who have graduated from various disciplines such as Accounting, Hospitality, Tourism, and ICT to assume various leadership roles in the economy locally, regionally, and internationally.
In his closing remarks, BAC Deputy Executive Director (Corporate Services), Mr Oaitse Gabadirwe thanked all stakeholders for supporting BAC over the years. Mr Gabadirwe emphasized that BAC continues to achieve its mandate through the contribution of all stakeholders as such, BAC looks forward to further collaboration. The BAC Francistown Campus 15th Anniversary Celebrations were preceded by a wellness walk and were concluded by the 1st Biennial Golf Day on Saturday
