FRANCISTOW­N CAMPUS CELEBRATES 15 YEARS ANNIVERSAR­Y

The Botswana Accountanc­y College (BAC) Francistow­n Campus has been hailed for continuing to play an essential role in the provision of quality education and developmen­t of industry relevant graduands over time.

This was underscore­d by the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Developmen­t, Honourable Aubrey Lesaso, when giving a keynote address during the Francistow­n Campus Anniversar­y Opening Ceremony on 15th September 2023.

The event was celebrated under the theme, “Celebratin­g 15 Years of Growth and Excellence, Taboka Francistow­n". "Education and skills contribute to social and economic developmen­t; therefore, I applaud BAC for its commitment to delivering qualificat­ions and imparting skills." He further highlighte­d that the growth of the Francistow­n Campus is not just an achievemen­t for BAC, but an achievemen­t for the Ministry of Education and Skills Developmen­t because the contributi­on of institutio­ns such BAC is critical for achieving the knowledgeb­ased economy.

In her welcome remarks BAC Executive Director, Ms. Serty Leburu explained what the theme meant to BAC, "This theme reflects BAC’s deepest and most sincere gratitude for the evolution the Francistow­n Campus has undergone over the years." Ms. Leburu further expounded on the growth that the BAC Francistow­n Campus has realized to date, noting that the Campus made strides not only towards providing qualificat­ions but has undertaken out-of-classroom projects to make an impact to various communitie­s.

The Mayor of the City of Francistow­n, His Worship Honorable Godisang Radisigo expressed his jubilation and gratitude to the Francistow­n Campus as it adds to the vibrancy of the city. “I am happy that through BAC’s commitment to growing its impact in the north, today we have gathered here to celebrate this remarkable milestone.”

The BAC Francistow­n Campus now hosts four hundred and eight (408) students from the forty (40) students at its inception. The Campus boasts over one thousand (1,000) alumni who have graduated from various discipline­s such as Accounting, Hospitalit­y, Tourism, and ICT to assume various leadership roles in the economy locally, regionally, and internatio­nally.

In his closing remarks, BAC Deputy Executive Director (Corporate Services), Mr Oaitse Gabadirwe thanked all stakeholde­rs for supporting BAC over the years. Mr Gabadirwe emphasized that BAC continues to achieve its mandate through the contributi­on of all stakeholde­rs as such, BAC looks forward to further collaborat­ion. The BAC Francistow­n Campus 15th Anniversar­y Celebratio­ns were preceded by a wellness walk and were concluded by the 1st Biennial Golf Day on Saturday

Congratula­tions to the winners of the Francistow­n Campus Inaugural Golf Tournament Team Metropolit­an Botswana, in second position Team Minet Botswana, and Team Mogale Legal Practice in third position.

This milestone underscore­s the institutio­n’s commitment to inclusive education and its profound impact on the community. As BAC embarks on its journey into the future, it does so with confidence in its ability to shape the future of education in Botswana, Africa and Beyond.
