Serufho favourite for BNSC CEO post

The search for the next Botswana National Sport Commission ( BNSC) Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) is currently underway following a round of interviews reportedly conducted this past month. The experience­d sports administra­tor and Botswana National Olympic Committee ( BNOC) boss Tuelo Serufho is currently acting in the vacant post but many within local sporting circles believe he will eventually be confirmed as the new BNSC secretaria­t boss.

Although a lot of questions have been asked on whom the next CEO would be, sources in the BNSC corridors point to Serufho. He has in a short spell at the BNSC, seemingly impressed the top brass, both at the commission and the Ministry of Youth Empowermen­t, Sport and Culture Developmen­t ( MYSC).

In an interview this week, Serufho could not confirm if he has gone through the interviews for the position, which were held several weeks ago, “I cannot comment on that, I think the right people to contact are the BNSC board or the Ministry,” he said.

Serufho, who seems to be taking pleasure in his new role at the BNSC points out that there are a lot of commonalti­es in the BNOC CEO role and the BNSC CEO role although the BNSC pose a lot of challenges.

“There are areas of commonalit­y between the two entities, the BNSC is a regulatory body and the BNOC isn’t, hence we deal with issues of national associatio­n compliance to a large extent.”
